Help me remember

While painting at the easel this week, Ruthie set out excitedly to paint her roomba.  However, she quickly grew frustrated when she couldn’t remember what it looked like.  When encouraged to turn to her imagination for help, she quickly responded…

“No, my imagination doesn’t remember it either.”  RUTHIE

Ruthie isn’t alone.  The children often want to hold onto their creations in order to extend their thinking on another day. Sometimes they ask us to take pictures of their work so that it can be documented through photographs. Often we provide books, whose illustrations can inspire and grow ideas.

But how do we empower the children to help themselves to remember?
