LNS Traditions

Magical Encounters

Magical Encounters is celebrated in the fall. While walking in the sculpture park or trails children discover woodland puppets that greet the children and share a story.

In December, the LNS Community gathers for a sing-a-long (with musical instruments!) and lantern walk around the sculpture park.

In early May, the children parade through the sculpture park and dance and sing around the maypole with the music teacher to celebrate the arrival of spring. Parents, families and caregivers are invited to share in this tradition.

Family Books are created by each child and their family over the summer. The books celebrate family stories. The books are a mirror of each child’s family and are a window for children in the studio to learn about each other and their family. The content families create becomes a resource for our anti bias work at LNS.

Family Day is hosted in June and provides an opportunity to explore various forms of art with open-ended materials that children use daily in their studios – both current and alumni families are invited to join
