“I just can’t read!”

Picture books are invaluable in our preschool environment.  Personally, neither of us has outgrown our own love of picture books and continue to amass an extensive collection to this day!  Yes, we are both educators and parents ourselves but there’s more to it than that.  We both value the power of reading a picture book aloud to young children.  The value of appreciating art that picture books can entice.  The important message that picture books lend of observation and using what you see to help you make connections.  Of course there is joy in discovering through picture books and to an even greater extent, comfort.  We are struck when we hear about parents sharing their favorite books with their own children.  Yes, picture books have a solid place in our lives that is enduring and should be deeply appreciated.
