Studio Yellow, Week 2

Our first full week together brought with it many opportunities for children to begin to get to know one another.

What questions arise as we slowly reveal those seemingly tiny pieces of ourselves?

Work has begun on our “map wall.”  Children are curious and proud as they explore their place within our Studio Yellow community.

“A map of where we live.”

“I see a little map.”

“I live in Concord.”
“I live in Concord too.”

“I live in a house. Well the name of my road is Wayland, Waltham Road.”

“I used to live in Medford.”

“This is my house.”

“Wow.”

Where do we belong?

My favorite colors are pink and purple. Do you like pink and purple? ELLIE

Do you like pink and purple mixed together? ORION

What does that make? ELLIE

I know – green. SUKI

No – blue and yellow make green. ELLIE

I painted two colors, yellow and blue and I made green. CHRIS

What makes red and white? ORION

I think pink. MAKENNA

How are we learning the art of being together?

“I can’t find my house? I may need a little help.”

“These are the things we do – she’s writing and I wrote – sun, rainbow, sun, rainbow, grass.”

“Where does this go? “

“It’s nothing to worry about.”

“This is for you, for your birthday.”

“What are you guys doing?”

“I’m so sorry – sorry for knocking it over.  We can always rebuild it.  We can rebuild it together.”

“These bugs are living.  We don’t want to smoosh it.”

“You know what’s great about me?  I have bug spray on.”
