Painting becomes an opportunity to see line, shape, number and size, as Vivian and Lyla work to create missing pieces for our map. Children mathematize their own experiences! As they explore the potential of mathematical language to understand the world and express ideas, we adults can make their understandings explicit. In conversation and through our environment and materials we can challenge and extend their thinking.
