“We need your help.”

On Monday, we read the book Rabbityness.  This is a story about a rabbit who does “rabbity” things, such as hopping and scratching, but he also does “unrabbity” things, such as painting and making music.  Doing unrabbity things makes him stand out from his friends, but it also fills the woods with color.  Then one day the rabbit disappears and his rabbit friends discover that he left behind gifts so that they can paint and make music.  They discover that they can be unrabbity too and the woods are filled with color once again.
Upon finishing the story, the children were concerned about what had happened when the rabbit disappeared.  Some thought he may have died and others thought he just went away.
It was then that Madeline P.R. had an idea…

“Some of you could be wrong and some of you could be right.

We don’t know.  The words in the book didn’t say what happened.

But we need your help.

We can write our own stories, if you want.  We can decide what happened.

We’ll need your (the teacher’s) help.  Some of us can read and some of us can’t.

We will need tape.

Raise your hand if you want to do this.”
