“Because Skin is Soft” -Margot

“I am the only ME I AM who qualifies as me; no ME I AM has been before, and none will ever be!”

So starts Jack Prelutsky’s book, ME I AM!  What makes us who we are?  What does it mean to be “ME?”

It may seem counterintuitive to  focus on “me” with young children, especially since we’ve worked so hard to message that we are a community; that the other is important.  This we do agree!  We also know, however that knowing yourself helps you better know others.  Knowing yourself is a journey.  We’ve embarked on this journey in Studio Purple by first creating figures of ourselves.  We’ve delighted in the children’s “knowing” and even in the surprises that each child has brought to focus about their “me!”
