Up Goes the Castle

by Jeff Moss (Sesame Street) We lie down for this, usually in the dark. Sometimes I put a bean bag on everyone’s tummy so they can feel it go up and down as they breathe.

A king and a queen once lived in a castle
on top of your stomach that castle was found.
And when you breathed in they lived high on a mountain,
But when you breathed out they lived low on the ground.

Yes you breathe in, up goes the castle,
you breathe out, the castle goes down,
Breathe in, high on a mountaintop, breathe out, low in the town.

Well the queen said to you, “Boy, it’s great up that mountain,”
“All right, queen,” you said, “I’ll breathe in just for you.”
“Oh no!” cried the king, “Up so high makes me dizzy!”
“All right, king,” you told him, “breathing out’s easy too,”

“I’m so bored,” said the queen, “It’s so flat in this valley,”
“Who cares?” said the king, “That old mountain’s too high,”
“Don’t breathe in!” said the king,
“Don’t breathe out,” the queen ordered,
“I have to,” you said, “I can’t stop if I tried.’’

“If you both have to argue,” you said to them nicely,
“Just find a new stomach and please get off mine.”
Well the king and the queen stopped and thought for a moment,
and decided that both high and low were just fine.
