Tissue Paper Exploration

We have been exploring with waxed tissue paper and light. Previously, we used various shaped hole punchers to cut paper, and then the children covered the holes with colorful tissue paper. It was discovered that by holding the creations up to the light that the colors would shine through and highlight the shapes as well! The following week we offered clear wax paper, glue sticks and colorful tissue paper. The children taped their work onto the window to see the effect of the light shining through.

A large piece of sticky contact paper was put on the window, with a bowl of waxed tissue paper on a stool. This captured the interest of Ellie and Sam, who spend the afternoon on their design together. Ellie, even discovered that she could carefully peal the pieces off again, and start all over again!
