“They can all go together to be big.” Graeme

How can we show what we have learned about the pine forest playground?

If we put a map on it how to get to the pine tree forest.  Lyla

We could show the parts cuz you know how there are different areas?  Arya

My idea was to draw London, Paris… Charlie

That’s beyond the pine tree forest, Charlie.  Lyla

How can we use these tools to put our paintings together?

We can cut them! They can all go together to be big.  Graeme

Like we all have wood chip mountains and they are small. Beatrice

We can put them at the bottom.  Arya

I have mountains here!  Sevi

We have invited the children to work together to share their developing understanding of the pine tree forest.  Knowing that the museum is exploring the potential of this space, we are creating an opening for Studio Red to engage in a purposeful project that extends beyond our school.  Julie and Emily from the Learning and Engagement team are researching ways to invite the public to experience a connection between design, art, and nature within this pine grove. We look forward to engaging the children in this deeper question, experimenting with ways we can connect these three concepts. We begin with an open exploration of the space.
