Where’s the Beef?

Every year we wrestle with snack!

Have we served it too late?     Too soon?
Given too much?       Too little?

We’ve been feeling like children are getting bigger and hungrier, ready for more food.  So from now on, in addition to a carbohydrate and a fruit or vegetable, we’ll be adding a protein to our snack each day.

This week Cal’s mom Lauren brought in new food items for us to try so she can determine what is most popular. (Lauren will provide the protein, as she does already with the carb item.)

Wednesday was “Sea Salt Crunchy Chickpeas.” Thursday we offered these again, also adding “Honey Roasted” chickpeas, so they could try both. Everyone tried at least one chickpea so that we could get a vote. Nancy joined us briefly and I couldn’t resist featuring her in the post (sorry, Nancy!). As you can see, she gave a thumbs up for the “Sea Salt Crunchy Chickpeas”. The checks on the first sheet meant that they tried it, and if there was an X it means that they didn’t like it. Travers and Ruthie had an interesting comment about the Honey Roasted Chickpeas: they both liked and disliked them, which kind of makes sense; sometimes you like some things about a food but not other things about it.

You’re probably wondering what else Lauren has up her sleeve. Here is a food that we’ll introduce next week if everyone is okay with it. If your family doesn’t eat meat, please let us know and we’ll take it out of the mix.
