That’s Me!

Kesler takes out one of our Studio Blue placemats. Wesley wants to look at it too. By laying down on the floor, the mat in the middle, they figure out a way to both be able to look at it.

They begin to point to faces on the mat and name them for each other. First and foremost, they point to themselves, as children of this age need to do; they are establishing their place within the larger group. When Wesley points to Lila, they do not recognize her from the picture. They look back and forth between each other and then Wesley looks up and asks, Ellie, Who is this? Ellie looks down and says, That’s Lila. Wesley says again, This is Lila.

The following video depicts this scene. The volume is muted as mostly background noise can be heard.

A moment later, as Kesler and Wesley disagree on who is in the picture, several other children join in and they work together to name each child in Studio Blue - a real collaboration.
