I’m Making Delicate

Kyla: I’m making delicate. I’m making a cake.

Ruthie:  I’m making brownies.

Kyla: My new baby is delicate too. Delicate means something might break.

Caroline is painting at the table nearby. Although she is facing the other way and can’t see what is happening at the table behind her, she is listening closely to Kyla and Ruthie.

As she continues to paint, her eyes focused on her work, Caroline adds, Fragile! Delicate is also fragile!

Caroline, Ruthie and now, Kyla, all have baby sisters at home. What might this commonality add to their relationships with each other? What might this knowledge of delicate bring to their encounters in the studio, sculpture park and museum?
