Big Juice Box/Alfredo ABC’s

Lyrics by Mark Weltner. This song is sung by a puppet I call Alfredo who lives in a bag; the first thing he does when he comes out of the bag is to sing this song, to the tune “Ram San San”:

A big juice box, a big juice box,
Teeny weeny crackers and a big juice box.
A _________, a _________
Teeny weeny crackers and a pair of smelly socks.

I bring each item out as I sing, so I have a big juice box (a container with a picture of an apple on it), an animal cracker box, and a pair of socks. The fill-in-the-blank is usually a mystery food – before I reveal it, I usually give clues to see if someone can guess what it is.

Alfredo’s favorite song is ABC, and he is the conductor. Sometimes I explain that a music conductor is like a train conductor, in that a train conductor tells the train where to go, and the music conductor tells the music where to go. Then I explain that when Alfredo is up high, we sing loud, when he’s in the middle, we sing in a regular voice, and when he’s low to the ground, we sing softly. When he’s upside down, we hold our noses and sing.
