Rattlin’ Bog

This is a cumulative song.

Chorus:
Hi, ho the rattlin’ bog, the bog down in the valley-oh
Hi, ho the rattlin’ bog, the bog down in the valley-oh

Now, in this bog, there was a tree,
A rare tree and a rattlin’ tree.
And the tree in the bog, and the bog down in the valley-oh!
[Chorus]
Now, on this tree, there was a branch,
A rare branch and a rattlin’ branch,
The branch on the tree and the tree in the bog,
And the bog down in the valley-oh!
[Chorus]
Now, on this branch, there was a nest..
and so forth.

The other verses, in order, are: egg in the nest, bird on the egg, and feather on the bird, flea on the feather, and smile on the flea (although we may only make it to the feather, depending on the class). We stand and march as we sing the chorus, and for each verse, make the tree (stand at attention), branch (stick out arm), nest (cup hands), egg (make fist), bird (flap hands), feather (finger drifts down), flea (hold finger and thumb close together) and smile (trace a smile across your face).
