I’m Grumpy

The children continue to think about faces. We see this when they work with pencil and markers, with playdough or felt, and often in the mirror.

Chris came in to Studio Blue one morning looking rather unhappy. He approached Diane who was holding a camera.

I’m grumpy. Chris told her. He then dramatically folded his arms across his chest.

I want you to take a picture of that.

Diane grabs the better camera to take a picture of Chris. He wants to see what the picture looks like and Diane shows him.

You don’t look very grumpy in this picture, do you?

No.

Should we take another one?

Yes.

This time, Chris works on expressing a more grumpy face, particularly with his eyes and the shape of his mouth. I show him what this second photograph looks like.

Chris is pleased with this grumpy face. He smiles and goes off to play…
